~Welcome to the Kansas Equestrian Page~
About the Purpose of This Page... This site is run by yours truly. My name is Lindsey Jones. I am a college sophomore studying computer science at KU. I love riding and horses, hence the birth of this page. :) I have two lovely horses. Shama is twenty years old and a purebred arab (she's the one in the picture to the left) and SJ (aka Charisma) is a three year old half-arab. Poor Shama has been neglected a bit lately, as I have been working with SJ lately. I am training her for three day eventing. She's coming along nicely so far. I created this site in the hope that it will provide useful information to riders in the Kansas/Missouri area. I hate finding out there was a horse show that I missed, even if I'm not planning on competing, so I made this site to help inform area riders of what is going on. I'll include all shows I can find, and will not limit it to strictly english or western. Each link below will take you to another site with listings that fit the category you have chosen. If you know of any shows not listed, or if you want yours posted, just email me. I'd be more than happy to promote it! Have fun and happy riding!
Since I event, I'm a bit prejudiced and will have to admit to being partial to the english community. However, as I posted previously, I will include ALL types of events. Please pick a link below to visit the listings of shows or links. Also, if you know of any cool horsey links, let me know! Thanks! Local Events/Horse Trials...
My Battle to Implement a Riding Program in College... I read an article in Practical Horseman about how the NCAA finally accepted "equestrian" as a sport. This act will help spur the opening of equestrian competitions for college students. More information about this is available throught the web sites of NCAA (www.ncaa.com), the Intercollegiate Horse Show Assocation (www.ihsa.com), and the Affiliated National Riding commission (www.mon.com). Many assosiations and federations helped this come about. We owe our thanks to all of them... Please check out my link below to see more about the issue and to find out what you can do for your school. I will also update the progress of starting a program at my own college. Suggestions are more than welcome...
